Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?

We offer unlimited (but not dedicated, single user) access to the Internet for $18.95 per month.

What web browser(s) can I use

You can use any browser you like. We recommend Mozilla FireFox, Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.

What stack (Winsock) software can I use?

Again, you can use any TCP/IP software to provide the Winsock stack to your machine. Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP have the software built in. We do not recommend using Windows 3.1 or Windows 95 for surfing the net as a lot of browsers will not work under any OS less than Windows 98.

Can I register my own domain name (mycompany.com) ?

We provide a service to register your domain name on our server if you want. The charge for this service is a $50 and $25 each year thereafter. Call us for details if you wish to have a permanent domain name registered.

Can I host my own pages without a domain name?

Yes - a personal Internet account with us allows you access to a personal directory that is accessible from the World Wide Web. This will be accessible as http://www2.enia.net/users/<username>. You should be aware that only personal web pages are included in our standard residential dial-up plans. All business web pages will be charged a web hosting fee.

I don't see the "Dial-Up Networking" in "My Computer".

OK, this is an easy one. Go to Control Panel, and double click the "Add/Remove Programs" icon. Then click on the "Windows Setup" tab. Select the line showing "Communications" and click the "Details" button. Put a check in the box on the line for "Dial-Up Networking". Then click OK until you get back to the Windows desktop.

I can't get connected to the Internet.

Do you hear the phone dialing/answering? If so, skip to this section.

If you do not hear dialing, then check the properties of the connection  (Windows 98 users: double click the My Computer icon, double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon, Right mouse click on the connection icon used to connect to EagleNet - the name of it is whatever you named it when you created it, click on Properties from the drop-down menu). Check the modem settings to be sure they are the same as the actual modem in your computer. If you don't know the modem type, select "(Standard Modem Types)" as the Manufacturer, and select Standard 14400 bps Modem or Standard 28800 bps Modem from the Modems list (if you don't have at least a 14400 bps modem, you'll be very disappointed with your Internet surfing speed). Click the Next/OK/Close buttons until you're out of the properties settings (Yes to save if prompted). Reboot your machine and try connecting again.

If it still doesn't work (you don't hear it dial), you may need more technical assistance. Give us a call, but be prepared for us to ask you to bring your machine in if a few minutes on the phone doesn't get us anywhere.

I hear the phone dial and answer, but I can't get connected to the Internet.

Double check your login name and password (be sure you're putting the @enia.net as part of your login name). Upper/Lower case of the password SHOULD NOT matter here, but check that too, just to be safe. If you're sure that's correct but you still can't get in, try using a regular dialing program (like Dialer or HyperTerminal on Windows95/98). Using one of these programs to dial into our system, you will be presented with a login prompt. Enter your login name and password as prompted. If, after entering the password, you get another login prompt, the login name or password you entered is different that what we have in our system. Call us to straighten it out. If, after entering your password, you start getting a stream of garbage on the screen, you successfully logged in. At this point, you'll need to hang up and try dialing in with the Internet dialer (Terminal, HyperTerminal or Dialer programs will NOT work as your Internet connection, we just used them to verify your login name and password.)

I can't get to my E-mail account.

First of all a simple test. Are you able to surf around on the Internet (with Internet Explorer or Netscape)? If so, try this: Go to location http://www.mail2web.com/ this screen will present you with a login to your E-mail configuration. Enter your email address (with the @enia.net part) and your password. If you do not get logged in OK, then your login name or password you typed is different than what is in our system. Double check for proper capitalization in the password! It IS case sensitive. If you still can't get in on this screen, call us to double check your E-mail account (hey, we're human too, and we may have made a mistake in setting it up).
